HAS About the Bullmastiff

BULLMASTIFF HISTORY

The Bullmastiff was created at the beginning of the 19th century to combat night poaching. British landowners sought to obtain a dog suitable for this purpose by crossbreeding the Mastiff (large and heavy) and an old type of Bulldog (fast and active). The Bullmastiff then became the dog of the gamekeepers; he had to be able to pin a man to the ground and hold him there while awaiting orders. The Bullmastiff was later used as a police dog

GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS of the BULLMASTIFF

Our breeding

Passionate about the bullmastiff since 1995, breeding is not our main activity but a hobby. We have in fact traveled a good part of Europe to participate in exhibitions or visit breeders who share our passion. But you don't pretend to be a breeder by staying in your garden. To produce quality dogs, you need to know as many lines as possible, their strong points, their weak points, know how to combine them intelligently and only then can you compete with the best. Our way of working is not to follow fashions or to use this or that champion to do like everyone else. Our first working criterion is the breed standard, with priority for character and power. Our seriousness and our skills are now recognized in many countries including England, Switzerland, Italy, Belgium, Spain, Germany, Austria, Quebec, Egypt, etc. Breeding requires a good feeling and a lot of knowledge. It is not by marrying two champions or buying from a renowned affix that we obtain perfect dogs. Moreover, the strength of breeding lies in an entire herd and not on one or two locomotives which lead to genetic impoverishment and sometimes catastrophes. We are not subject to any external influence and are used to saying what we think and denouncing what seems abnormal to us (even if not everyone likes it!!)
